Embark on the Ultimate Antarctic Odyssey – Where Adventure Meets Luxury!
Prepare for a transformational experience that transcends the boundaries of the ordinary. Antarctica, the 7th continent, beckons with its pristine glacial landscapes, towering icebergs, and wildlife thriving in the harshest conditions. Day 0: Cape Town Safety Briefing
Pre-departure safety briefing in Cape Town. Mallerby’s will assist with your accommodation.
Day 1 & 2: Flight to Antarctica – Welcome to Whichaway Camp!
Embark on a 5-hour flight from Cape Town, flying over a sea of icebergs across the Southern Ocean, and entering the Polar Circle to encounter the continuous daylight of the Antarctic summer. Touch down on the ancient blue ice of Antarctica, where Whichaway Camp awaits. Do as little or as much as you like each day – yoga and massages to gentle treks exploring the ice waves, summiting a nunatak, ice climbing and even abseiling! Immerse yourself in the surreal beauty and enjoy talks from polar explorer staff about some of the lesser-known history of Antarctica and their world record-breaking expeditions.
Day 3: Emperor Penguins at Atka Bay
A 2.5-hour flight across Antarctica brings you to the majestic Emperor penguin colony at Atka Bay. Witness the stars of “March of the Penguins” in their natural habitat—truly a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.
Day 4: Ice Tunnels and Panoramic Views
Spend the day with your guide exploring the ice waves below camp, delving into the series of ice tunnels that are as surreal as they are beautiful and then winding your way through the snow and ice to an incredible vantage point where you can take in the panoramic view over the ice waves that you have just explored
Day 5 & 6: Journey to the South Pole
Setting off early in the Basler BT-67 aircraft, you’ll fly over stunning mountain ranges, landing at Dixie’s Camp to refuel and walk on the High Polar Plateau, before reaching the South Pole. Stamp your passport, take plenty of photos and then fly back to Dixie’s Camp.
After a night under canvas, enjoy a hearty breakfast before flying back to Whichaway for a three-course champagne dinner to celebrate your extraordinary achievement.
Day 7: Cliffside Hike with Breathtaking Views
Experience an adventurous hike along a winding cliff face, led by world-class UIAGM mountain guides. Marvel at stunning views over pressure ridges of ice shaped over millennia by the ocean.
Day 8: Farewell to Antarctica
Your flight out of Antarctica marks the end of this extraordinary adventure. Bid adieu to the great White Continent and re-enter the vibrant energy of Africa.
