BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
OVERVIEW
The climate in the Congo Basin is tropical, with a relatively heavy rainfall, moderately high temperatures and humidity. Rain is inevitable and an essential part of the ecosystem, however there are some dry days! Average temperatures range between 20ºC and 32ºC.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to travel is during the long dry season from mid-June through September. July is the least wet and coolest month.
WHEN TO AVOID
The heavy rains are from end April through to mid-June and then October through December.
BEST GAME VIEWING
May and August are good months to possibly see shy forest buffalo and elephant or some of the 114 mammals in the Odzala NP.
BEST FOR BIRDING
September and October are great spring months for birdwatching with sightings of some of the 400 species of birdlife.

Sangha
746 309 km² in size spanning Cameroon, Central African Republic and the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park in Republic of the Congo, the Sangha Trinational Protected area is largely unpopulated, has a range of eco-systems, is abundant in wildlife and has a gorilla population for 4 000 – 8000.
Odzala-Kokoua
One of Africa’s oldest parks, the Odzala-Kokoua National Park plays an integral part of the Congo Basin and TRIDOM Transfrontier Park, has a Western Lowland Gorilla population of 22 000 and is a haven for the Forest Elephant, Bongo and many species of flora and fauna.
