BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

OVERVIEW

Madagascar has a tropical climate along the coast, a temperate climate inland and is arid in the south. Essentially 2 seasons – the dry, cooler season from May until October and the hot, rainy season from November until April.  

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit is from May to October.

WHEN TO AVOID

From January to the end March, during the peak of the wet season.

BEST FOR LEMURS

October and November are best for baby lemurs

BEST FOR SURFING

May to September in the South – Southeast for surfing & kite surfing.

Best time for Marine Life

Humpback whales can be seen from October to December in the north-west and July through September in the east. Diving is best from April to December.

The Andasibe-Mantadia National Park offers a rich selection of fauna and flora species within the rain forest and is the home to the Indri Indri, a lemur only found in this area of Madagscar

Masaola National Park on the north-east of Madagascar is a natural rainforest which shelters three marine parks. Here you may be lucky enough to see rare species such as the Falanouc and leaf-tailed gecko’s as well as a varied range of wildlife, birds and perhaps even the Tomato Frog.

Morondava is on the western side of Madagascar and is famous for it’s tall Baobab trees which symmetrically line up on either side of a dirt road creating the famous ‘Avenue of Baobabs’ that draw tourists from far and wide to see their stately presence at 30 metres tall and over 1000 years in age.
